Foster Care Awareness Week - Caregiver Appreciation Evening

05 March 2020

As part of Foster Care Awareness Week, in collaboration with Caring Families Aotearoa, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and VOYCE, we held a caregiver appreciation evening in our Auckland office. It was a wonderful event and even bigger than the same event we hosted last year. We were joined by 42 carers/adult whānau members and VOYCE looked after and entertained 50 children and young people.

The atmosphere was great, with moving stories about the personal significance of caregiving and lots of opportunity to share experiences and build relationships over a huge selection of dessert! Afterwards, there were many positive comments from caregivers about how they felt valued and appreciated for their work. Special too, that the young people got to have a fun time and meet other kids who have a shared experience of being in care.

The City Cake Company in Mt Eden, Kreem Café Mt Wellington and Good Bitches Baking (North Auckland chapter) generously donated kai, for which we are very grateful.

Thank you to the sponsors of the evening (below) and to all who helped run a very successful event! We couldn’t have done it without you!
