Youth Horizons Matariki Staff Conference
Last Tuesday, we had an incredible day together as an organisation in Auckland at the Novotel for our 2019 Staff Conference.
We brought staff from all around New Zealand to spend the day together, providing learning and training in four workshops and a session with guest speaker, Nigel Latta.
The four workshops we cycled through were Talking Trouble, InsideOUT, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Pasifika dance. Many people reported it was tricky to choose their favourite workshop, as each was very different and informative. Nigel Latta was engaging, funny and relevant, and it was great to see the room so captivated during his presentation.
Pua Tini (our Youth Horizons | Kia Puāwai version of Matatini) was a highlight for many, with dance and waiata performances from each office and rōpū around the country. Well done to everyone who took part, and congratulations to the team Te Westie Tini from our Youth Service West office in New Lynn for taking out the competition and winning the cup. There was such enthusiasm and enjoyment from the performers, and huge variation in items presented.
The day finished off with a Matariki-themed dinner, DJ Ronni Biggz and a photobooth.
All in all, it was an awesome day spent catching up with our whānau from around the organisation, and it wouldn’t be a Kia Puāwai event without plenty of kai!
Special thanks to Molly Woppy and Mindfood who very generously donated items for our goodie bags.
