Specialist Caregiver Programme

The Specialist Caregiver Programme (SCP) provides intensive individualised foster care support for young people/rangatahi with severe emotional and behavioural challenges.

The programme is for young people aged between 11 and 16 and gives them the opportunity to live in a family/whānau setting with specialist caregivers supported by intensive clinical and social work services.

SCP is characterised by its focus on channelling resources, expertise and support to maintaining a young person's placement and ensuring they can achieve their goals.

All of our caregivers in the SCP teams across Aotearoa have been training in the Teaching-Family Model (TFM).

Youth Horizons | Kia Puāwai delivers SCP in Northland, Auckland, the Bay of Plenty and the Hawke's Bay.
